Black and white

If you have been following my blog closely it would be quite evident that photography is my premier hobby these days. However, black and white photography or monochrome is a setting/genre that I simply adore.

The magic of monochrome is unbeatable. Shooting in monochrome is also a little more challenging in its own different way. While with color photography one has to manage a lot of different aspects of color and make the best of every element present in the frame. But what I feel is more challenging about monochrome is the story that one has to try and capture in the frame. The focus in a monochrome picture is more on the story that one tries to capture....

It was a hot summer day, and while I did have many tasks to attend to, I decided to take my favorite friend out for a walk: my camera. As usual, I struggled to find inspiration in my same old, classic and easily accessible location my garden. But luck was on my side that day, even though it was a fairly humid day I had the opportunity to meet and greet my old friend:

A lady in red, walking alone, she sublimely made all the summer heat disappear in a moment, her beautiful red coat, dazzling in red hot sun and her sure- footed walk really made standing in the heat worthwhile.

Roses, are one of the most gentle and fragrant flowers, personally I find them interesting to capture, their essence and texture is a little to tough to capture. In my  pictures I have tried to capture them to my best effort, along with other things =p

The festival of lights

Diwali- a festival of lights celebrated with great fervor in  India, it really is like Christmas for us. There are gifts, lights, fireworks, everything ! Sweets are also a big highlight of this festival. It really is celebrated to give importance to the return of Lord Ram. The festival is celebrated, with lights and fireworks and of course the distribution of sweets. The festival really is enjoyable and is a photographers delight, because of the amazing ideas and opportunities for night photography.

A walk to remember

Recently, I went for a photo walk, courtesy my school, to Kashmiri Gate. We also visited st. James church along with Nicolas cemetery.  The cemetery was the first place we visited, it was brimming with history. The cemetery  had graves of many people who had expired during the British rule in India and after. Some graves were recent, some were old. What was sad to see was the fact that most people died at very young ages. Most between the ages of 20-30. Many graves were very well carved and had beautiful motifs on them.

Next we went to the Kashmiri Gate,  on  our way, we observed a mosque that was literally built on the roof of a shop. The architecture was Islamic but it was very beautiful . Before we went to the Kashmiri Gate, we visited this garden, where we observed many monuments, that were built by a previous ruler at the time. There was also a house, that really looked like a gate away cottage.

Then, we visited the kashmiri gate, though it had been reconstructed it still looked like a beautiful archway.

Our last stop was St James  church. A beautiful yellow church built by Sir Skinner and  his family. The mosaic on the glass windows of the church were beautiful beyond doubt. Truly the visit was an excited and captivating experience.

Beauty in nature

As everyone may have noticed, I have caught the photography bug, and nature of course is my biggest inspiration. There is a lot to learn from nature, complex shapes, flawless mechanisms and just calm and peace. Nature makes for a very interesting and friendly subject.

This picture, brings sad thoughts. As, on one hand people enjoy a happy life and complain about things we don't have. But on the other hand, there are people who have to struggle for just one meal, it really is heart wrenching.

Taken at a place, where an umbrella was least expected. The title really speaks for itself, signifying hope for even the grimmest of days .
